Scarlett Johnson, a parent advocate from Wisconsin and a member of Moms for Liberty, utilized platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her support for Catholic medical institutions in Dane County that stand against gender-affirming surgeries for minors.

"Madison declared itself a 'trans sanctuary' for kids to get sex change drugs and surgeries, regardless of parental consent, and early on we see how radicals in Dane County can weaponize that designation. Force Catholics to cut and paste genitalia despite religious objections," Johnson wrote on platform X.

In June, authorities in Dane County made the decision to adopt a resolution designating the county as Wisconsin's inaugural "transgender sanctuary." This initiative seeks to provide ongoing inclusivity to individuals within the "transgender" community, including minors as well. The resolution primarily focuses on extending support to "transgender" and "nonbinary" individuals, with an emphasis on promoting support systems for young people through county school boards. Furthermore, it calls upon county law enforcement to relegate any form of gender-affirming care to a lower priority level in their enforcement of prohibitory measures, according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Last week, SSM Health, a Catholic healthcare system in Middleton, which is located in Dane County, introduced a policy refraining from providing any form of gender-affirming care for individuals identifying as "transgender," prompting dissatisfaction among the Dane County Board of Supervisors and other residents in the area. The Dane County Board of Supervisors is now trying to establish evidence of a contractual breach to enforce compliance by the healthcare establishment, according to Red State.

"The decision from SSM Health to discontinue care that is medically necessary is dangerous to members of the community who continue to face threats and intimidation," Dane County Board of Supervisors said in a statement, according to Channel 3000 News. "Health care institutions need to be held accountable to do what is right, and not limit access to care, but expand it. SSM Health’s ill-conceived policymaking limiting the holistic approach of gender-affirming care will contribute to further discrimination of transgender and nonbinary people as well as threaten their health and well-being. Religion should not override scientific, evidence-based medical care."
