The Board of Education meeting on April 23, 2024, saw the introduction of new members and the recognition of outstanding individuals within the district.

Katie Frank and Bartlett Durand were welcomed as new members representing Area IV and Area V, respectively. Bob Green, a long-time member, was also acknowledged for his 21 years of service on the Board.

Dr. Irene Ann Resenly was honored as the Middle School Teacher of the Year by the Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies. Her dedication to Holocaust education and passion for teaching were highlighted during the meeting.

Middleton High School seniors, Charlotte Kosek and Isha Chilukuri, were recognized for being named 2024 Herb Kohl Excellence Scholarship recipients. Their achievements in leadership, academics, and community involvement were commended.

Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue highlighted various student and staff successes, including honors for Kromrey Middle School, the MHS HOSA and FBLA teams, and the MHS Theater program. Staff member Rhonda Veroeven was acknowledged as a finalist for the President's Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

The meeting also included a wellness report presented by Kalise Horst and Barb Buffington, focusing on the district's wellness initiatives and policy developments.

The Board approved several items, including the Dane County New Teacher Project Agreement, the Pope Farm Lot Sale, appointment to the CESA 2 board, and the appointment of a deputy clerk and board secretary.

In conclusion, the meeting highlighted the district's commitment to excellence in education, employee and student well-being, and ongoing efforts to support and recognize outstanding achievements within the community.
