As the new academic year approaches, the City of Madison Crossing Guard Program is reminding drivers to exercise caution near schools. The Madison Metropolitan School District will begin classes for some grades on September 2, with all grades returning by September 3.

The program emphasizes the importance of student safety as children return to school. Drivers are urged to follow posted speed limits in school zones and remain alert for crossing guards and students at intersections.

“The safety of our young pedestrians and students is of paramount importance, and, as such, we remind all members of the community to keep the following guidelines in mind as the new school year begins,” stated officials from the City of Madison Crossing Guard Program.

Community members are encouraged to plan extra travel time during morning and afternoon commutes due to increased pedestrian activity around schools. The city also asks parents to discuss road safety with their children before they head back to class.
