Edgewood College has announced the introduction of a new Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia (DNPNA) program. This program aims to train Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to deliver comprehensive anesthesia care in various healthcare settings. The curriculum spans three years, starting with a combination of online and in-person classes, followed by clinical practice.
Quinn Mullikin, Ph.D., DNP, RN, Dean-Select of the Henry Predolin School of Nursing, Business, Education, and Health Sciences at Edgewood College stated: “The professionals who will join us this fall can look forward to enhancing and expanding their caregiving career.” He added that the multidisciplinary program is designed to prepare leaders for complex healthcare environments across Wisconsin and the Midwest.
The first group of students will begin in August 2025. The program is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA). Dr. Ann R. Madden, DNP, CRNA serves as Program Director while Dr. Kelly Sinutko, DNP, CRNA is the Assistant Director. The program addresses the need for anesthesia services in rural areas where CRNAs often serve as sole providers.
Graduates will be eligible for the National Certification Examination administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA), qualifying them for licensure as a CRNA and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
