Nothing is more important than ensuring the well-being and safety of students, according to a statement from Sun Prairie Area School District officials. On July 24, 2025, the Sun Prairie Police Department arrested and charged former Sun Prairie West High School employee Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier.

“We are deeply concerned and unsettled by this development,” stated district officials. They emphasized that if the allegations leading to the arrest are true, such actions could undermine efforts to create a safe environment for students. The district assured continued cooperation with law enforcement to understand the situation fully.

The district confirmed that Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier was terminated on June 9, 2025. Administrators have been cooperating with police during their investigation into his conduct.

For those who might have information relevant to the investigation or suspect their child may be affected, they can contact the Sun Prairie Police Department’s non-emergency line at 608-837-7336 or anonymously at 608-837-6300.

District officials stressed their commitment to supporting students and staff impacted by these events. “We want to assure you that we are putting support systems in place for our students,” they said.

Updates will be provided as new information becomes available on their web page.

“As always, we appreciate your support,” concluded Dr. Brad Saron, Superintendent; Dr. Nick Reichhoff, Assistant Superintendent for Operations; Dr. Stephanie Leonard, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning, and Equity; and Ms. Jen Ploeger, SP West Principal.
