Forward Madison FC has launched a pre-match top in honor of Juneteenth, designed by local artist Brooklyn Doby. This initiative involves collaboration with the Featherstone Flamingos, a group that celebrates Black culture. The team will donate 25% of all proceeds from this collection to the Progress Center for Black Women during June.
The club’s history with charitable merchandise dates back to 2020 when they wore a Black Lives Matter warm-up top designed by Mike LeRoy, benefiting YWCA. Kyle Carr, Founding Member of Featherstone Flamingos, expressed pride in partnering with FMFC and emphasized the importance of highlighting black voices and issues.
Brooklyn Doby is known for her art that represents women of color and African American beauty. She described this opportunity as significant for underrepresented artists and hopes it inspires future generations.
Doby’s design for the Juneteenth top incorporates colors symbolizing liberation and unity, featuring imagery that represents family, culture, and ancestral roots. Players will wear these tops before their match on June 18th against Forward Madison FC. Team-issued tops sold at halftime will be signed by players with all proceeds going to the Progress Center for Black Women.
Fans can purchase the Juneteenth Top now or at the Flamboyance Team Store during the celebration match on June 18th at 7pm CT. A ticket package including a scarf is also available, with $5 from each sale supporting the Progress Center for Black Women.
