Josh Forehand will become the next principal of Sauk Trail Elementary School, effective July 1, according to an April 14 announcement from the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District. He will succeed Chris Dahlk, who is retiring after a 35-year career in public education.
Forehand has served as principal at Nuestro Mundo Community School for 13 years. The school is a K–5 Spanish-English dual-language immersion charter in Madison and is also a candidate for the International Baccalaureate program. His experience includes leadership roles in Texas, Honduras, and within the Madison Metropolitan School District.
Forehand holds a bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University and a master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University. The district said his background gives him “a broad foundation in supporting learners and teachers.” MCPASD congratulated Forehand on his new role and welcomed him to the district, stating that “his extensive experience and his deep commitment to every student and every classroom will be a valuable addition to what Sauk Trail has built.”
The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District promotes community engagement through extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities for students, according to its official website. The district achieved the highest ACT composite scores among public non-charter schools both in Dane County and across Wisconsin according to its official site.
