La Follette choir students visited six elementary schools on Apr. 3, performing songs and stories for younger students in an effort to promote literacy through music. The group included stops at Elvehjem and Lori Mann Carey elementary schools, where they blended musical numbers such as “Loathing” from Wicked with books like “Piggy” by Trevor Lai.
The initiative aims to encourage a lifelong love of reading among elementary school children by connecting stories with melodies. Bringing together performance and literature is seen as a way to make reading more engaging for young audiences.
