The Madison Metropolitan School District announced on April 29 that students can apply for the free Summer Arts Seats Program, with applications due by May 7.
The program aims to provide current pre-kindergarten through grade 12 students with access to summer arts experiences at no cost. The initiative is intended to increase opportunities in music, theater, dance, and other performing arts for a wide range of ages and interests. According to the district, priority will be given to students who have been historically underrepresented in community arts programs, including students of color and those eligible for school fee waivers.
Participants will be connected with local organizations such as Children’s Theater of Madison, Madison Youth Choirs, Madison Ballet, The House Inc., and Cue The 608. Opportunities include theater camps, choir sessions, dance classes, ballet instruction, stagecraft workshops and youth artist internships. Families interested in participating must complete an online application by Thursday, May 7; notification about application status will follow by May 14.
