Mayor Luke Diaz proclaimed on May 22 that the week of May 17 to May 23 is EMS Week in the City of Verona, recognizing Fitch-Rona Emergency Medical Services for their dedication and expertise.
The proclamation highlights the essential role emergency medical services play in providing critical care to residents and communities. It emphasizes that access to quality emergency medical care can significantly improve survival rates, recovery, and satisfaction for those experiencing sudden illness or injury.
According to the proclamation, “Fitch-Rona EMS exemplifies the very best Verona has to offer, often putting their own health and safety on the line to serve others and standing at the ready to provide lifesaving cares to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” The document also notes that EMS personnel undergo extensive specialized training and ongoing education to enhance their lifesaving skills.
Diaz said he encourages citizens “to join in celebrating Fitch-Rona EMS for their knowledge, skills, and selfless dedication to their community.”
The recognition comes under this year’s theme of “Improving Outcomes, Together,” underscoring efforts by local emergency responders not only during emergencies but through continual improvement of trauma care systems. The city’s acknowledgment reflects broader appreciation for first responders’ commitment throughout the year.
