MCPASD has announced the appointment of two new school resource officers (SROs). Officer Cassidy Ruchti will be assigned to Kromrey Middle School and MCPASD elementary schools, while Officer Jake Ungerer will join Middleton High School, working alongside SRO Kevin Thompson. Their roles are set to commence in late August for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Officer Ruchti began her career with the Middleton Police Department in 2023 after a summer internship with them in 2021. She initially worked with the Oregon Police Department and previously served as Kromrey Middle School’s SRO during the fall semester of last year. “Having already built relationships with many of the students and staff, I’m truly excited to return to this role,” said Ruchti. “I’m most looking forward to serving as a trusted adult and positive role model for the students.”

Ruchti is an alumna of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, holding bachelor’s degrees in political science and democracy & justice studies, focusing on criminal justice. Her qualifications include being a certified Stop the Bleed instructor and completing various law enforcement training programs.

Officer Ungerer joined the Middleton Police Department in 2019. His recent responsibilities included serving as a community policing officer where he coordinated events like Citizen Academy and National Night Out. He also completed a six-year military contract with Wisconsin National Guard’s 2-127 Alpha Company.

Ungerer has experience coaching baseball at Belleville High School and participated in multiple sports during his high school years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Carroll University in criminal justice with minors in Spanish and business leadership & management. “I’m eager to strengthen the partnership between the Middleton Police Department and Middleton High School,” stated Ungerer.

MCPASD Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue expressed appreciation for their collaboration with local law enforcement agencies: “We work closely with the Middleton and Cross Plains police departments, and we greatly appreciate our SROs’ support.”

The district invites everyone to welcome Officers Ruchti and Ungerer.
