The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District announced on May 12 that it will provide free summer meals to all students and community members under the age of 18 from June 22 through July 30. Breakfast and lunch will be available Mondays through Thursdays at Middleton High School, with no registration required.

The program aims to support children’s nutrition during the summer months by offering walk-in access to meals. According to the district, all meals must be eaten on-site as grab-and-go options are not available.

Meals will be served at Middleton High School’s North Commons, located at 2100 Bristol Street. The entrance is on the student parking side near the Borden Athletic Complex, with signs posted for guidance. Breakfast is scheduled from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m., while lunch will be offered from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday except July 2 when no meals are served.

In addition, the Middleton Public Library’s bookmobile will visit in front of the cafeteria on July 8, 15, 22 and 29 so students can select a free book to take home on those dates.

At Kromrey Middle School and Sauk Trail Elementary School, free breakfast and lunch will only be provided to students enrolled in Summer Academy, which is MCPASD’s summer school program for grades K-8. These meals will be distributed during their school day.

According to the official website, the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District promotes community engagement through extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities for students; maintains facilities supporting education from early childhood through high school; achieved top ACT composite scores among public non-charter schools in Dane County and Wisconsin; aims to prepare students for global challenges while fostering local inspiration; serves both Middleton and Cross Plains area in Wisconsin; and Dr. Dana Monogue has served as superintendent of the district.

Questions about meal services can be directed to Assistant Nutrition Services Supervisor Janelle Piddington at (608)829-2346 or jpiddington@mcpasd.k12.wi.us.
