The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District (MCPASD) welcomed 17 new paraeducators during its New Educator Induction event at Kromrey Middle School this week. The addition brings the total number of paraeducators supporting students in classrooms throughout the district to 183.
Cindy Malcheski, MCPASD Director of Special Education, emphasized the importance of paraeducators within the district. “Paraeducators play a vital role in supporting both students and staff in our educational settings,” Malcheski said.
She further described their impact: “Paraeducators serve as essential bridges that help create more personalized, inclusive, and effective learning environments. They are an integral part of our school communities. They are amazing!”
During the induction event, the new paraeducators were introduced to MCPASD and had a chance to meet colleagues before the start of the school year. Malcheski and Becky Poehls, special education coordinator at Middleton High School, led a breakout session for paraeducators focused on their roles in supporting both students and teachers.
MCPASD is continuing to hire additional paraeducators for the 2025-2026 school year. Positions are available in regular education as well as for working with students with disabilities. Pay rates range from $20.85 to $22.75 per hour. Those interested can find more information or apply through MCPASD’s Employee Services website.
