Middleton High School will hold its annual Jazz Tracs concerts on April 30 and May 1, featuring trumpet player Wayne Bergeron as a special guest, according to an April 13 announcement. The performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Middleton High School Performing Arts Center.
The event is notable because Bergeron is recognized as one of the most sought-after musicians in the world. He has contributed to more than 500 television and film soundtracks, working with artists from Ray Charles to Green Day. His trumpet solos have appeared in films such as “West Side Story” (2021), “La La Land,” “The Incredibles,” and many others. Bergeron’s work also includes TV credits for award shows like the Academy Awards and programs such as “Family Guy” and “Jeopardy.”
On April 30, Bergeron will perform with Middleton High School’s 7 O’Clock Jazz Band and Jazz Orchestra. The following night, he will be joined by additional groups including the school’s Jazz Lab, Cardinal Big Band, and Kromrey Middle School’s jazz band. Prior to these performances, Bergeron will lead clinics for students from all four of Middleton’s jazz ensembles as well as middle school musicians.
Tickets are available online at $11 for adults and $6 for students; proceeds support both Bergeron’s visit and the high school’s jazz program.
