Monona Terrace has opened its 2025 Art on the Rooftop public sculpture exhibit, featuring installations on Olin Terrace and the William T. Evjue Rooftop Gardens. Originally launched as a pilot project in 2014, this annual event aims to promote the rooftop as a notable destination in Madison.

This year’s exhibit includes works such as “Heal Us” by Nicole Beck, “Ode to Frank” by Thomas Skupniewitz, “Heels Over Head” by Paul Bobrowitz, “Infinity Scroll” by Don Esser, and “Pagoda” by Nana Schowalter. Artists were invited to apply for participation in February, with selections curated by the Madison Arts Commission.

The William T. Evjue Rooftop Gardens are accessible Sunday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm and Friday and Saturday until midnight, though they close during adverse weather conditions. The current exhibition will run through October, while the Olin Terrace piece will be displayed until March 2026.

The Madison Arts Commission is responsible for curating this exhibition. An advisory body appointed by the Mayor of Madison, MAC consists of eleven members who focus on arts and culture within the city. The commission’s mission is to foster appreciation for the arts through partnerships and sponsorships that support both emerging and established artists while maintaining Madison’s artistic heritage. They emphasize cultural equity to ensure an inclusive community.

For further details about this year’s installations or visiting hours, interested individuals can refer to Monona Terrace’s official communications regarding the Art on the Rooftop program.
