Portions of main streets in Madisonville closing for utility work and reconstruction

Parts of E Main Street and S Hancock Street will be closed starting Tuesday, September 2 at 7:00 a.m. for underground utility replacement and roadway reconstruction by R.G. Huston Co.

The closures will affect E Main Street from S Butler Street to S Franklin Street, and S Hancock Street from E Washington Avenue to E Wilson Street. The cul-de-sac on S Hancock Street, south of E Wilson Street, will also be closed to through traffic. E Wilson Street is not included in the closure.

According to the City of Madisonville, “E Main Street will close to thru traffic, from S Butler Street to S Franklin Street. S Hancock Street will close to thru traffic, from E Washington Avenue to E Wilson Street. The S Hancock Street cul-de-sac, south of E Wilson Street, will also close to thru traffic. E Wilson Street will not be affected.”

Construction is expected to pause during winter months and resume in spring for completion.
