School board discusses strategic goals and approves budgets

The recent Board of Education meeting covered several important topics and decisions affecting the district. The meeting, available for viewing on MCPASD TV’s YouTube channel, began with updates on board committee appointments. Members discussed their roles in the Policy Committee, Legislative and Community Engagement Committee, and Teaching and Learning Committee.

Dr. Monogue, in her Superintendent’s Report, acknowledged Dr. Sherri Cyra’s retirement after over 20 years of service as Deputy Superintendent. She also thanked staff involved in preparing the Summer Academy at Kromrey Middle School and the Summer School program at Middleton High School.

Sauk Trail Elementary Principal Chris Dahlk presented the Achievement Gap Reduction (AGR) Report for Spring 2024-25. The report highlighted strategies such as small group instruction and data-driven coaching to improve student achievement.

Board Member Bartlett Durand proposed aligning board committees with the District’s strategy map. This proposal was referred to the Policy Committee for further discussion.

The board approved several items including the District Continuous Improvement Package for 2025-2026, which focuses on engaging students through grade-level curriculum and culturally responsive teaching. Strategic goals include creating a culture of learning, aligning resources responsibly, and engaging with the community.

Middleton’s Good Neighbor Festival organizers received approval to use school grounds for their event in August 2025. Additionally, the board approved both preliminary budget plans for 2025-2026 and amendments to the 2024-25 budget.

Finally, a Compensation Plan for 2025-2026 was approved. It includes a recommended increase of 5% for support staff and 3.5% for administrators and supervisors to adjust salaries according to inflation while maintaining educational standards.

Middleton High School’s Theatre Department earned top honors at this year’s Jerry Awards with its production of Hadestown: Teen Edition. Several students were individually recognized as well. The department will perform at an upcoming awards ceremony.

Middleton High School announces three National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners

Three seniors at Middleton High School have received National Merit $2,500 Scholarships for their academic achievements. The recipients were chosen from more than 15,000 finalists nationwide based on academics, test scores, leadership roles, essays, and recommendations.
