During the match on Oct. 10, the University of Wisconsin's Badgers shut out St. Cloud State.
"It's a great day for hockey in Madison as @BadgerWHockey raises their SIXTH national championship banner at LaBahn Arena! Best of luck this season to the Badgers as they embark on their quest for a third straight title. #OnWisconsin," Sen Tammy Baldwin tweeted.
UW Badgers Women's hockey team got off to a great start this season, winning 6-1 against St. Cloud State to bring their season record to 6-0. The continual movement from St. Cloud State was definitely hard to defend for any player, but the Badgers made it seem like a cakewalk.
In the first six games of the season, the Badgers have outscored opponents 39-2 and lead the country in goals scored, shorthand goals and faceoff wins.
The Badgers started the game with a celebratory skate around the arena to display their sixth national championship trophy. Co-captains admitted feeling very emotional as the game started.
