Edgewood College Athletic Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 21
For the second time in the past three weeks, Eli Hartjes of the Edgewood College Men's Basketball team has been named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
Hartjes was up to his usual tricks in last Wednesday's 98-79 win over Rockford as the senior forward posted his third-straight 30-point double-double. He scored 31 points to go along with 13 rebounds, while adding a career-best eight assists in the third-straight win for the Eagles.
The Appleton, Wisconsin native now leads the NACC in scoring (23.5 PPG), rebounding (10.8 RPG), field goal percentage (64.8) and free throw percentage (96.3). He shot 57.1 percent (12-for-21) in the win over the Eagles.
Hartjes becomes the first two-time weekly award winner this season in Men's Basketball and the only time in the past three weeks he wasn't honored by the NACC, he was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. Over his last three games, he is averaging 32 points and 13.7 rebonds per game, while shooting 67.9 percent from the floor.
Hartjes and the Eagles are off until they are scheduled to play two games in Nashville next week. The first of those is against Nazareth College next Wednesday, December 29 at 3 p.m.
