Recently the Parks and Recreation Committee, as well as the Sustainability and Natural Resources Committee recommended approval to the Village board to accept the proposed Lewis Park Water Access Plan (PDF). The Board approved of the plan unanimously 7 - 0 - 0, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Both committees previously reviewed and provided feedback on the Lewis Park Water Access Plan. The 2015 Lewis Park Master Plan (PDF) called for several improvements in the park area including enhancing access to the water. The Village approved funds for planning services to explore a kayak launch and discovery dock as identified by shoreland improvements within the plan. The project scope includes such things as:

  • Conduct an analysis of the project area to identify key issues, opportunities, and improvements in order to provide lake access.
  • Public engagement on desired amenities.
  • Research and report regarding regulatory players and necessary permitting requirements.
  • Provide preliminary design services.
  • Providing cost estimates for the site.
In conjunction with the presentation of the water access plan, the Lewis Park Water Access Concept and Site Plan (PDF) was included.
