DeFortes Show Choir takes first place

DeFortes Show Band and Choir took home GOLD at the Monona Grove High School Silverstage Show Choir Competition! For the second year in a row, DeFortes members brought home first place of the prep division on Saturday, February 18 – a title they have been working towards since the start of their 2022-2023 season back in July.

There are two performances left for DeFortes – March 11 at the Holmen Gathering of the Stars Competition, and March 20 at the DAHS PAC at 7:00 PM for their final season showcase. The final performance will also feature members of Crescendos Middle School Show Choir as they celebrate the end of their season, too.

This season’s show is titled Workin’ for a Livin’ and DeFortes will take you on a journey through the monotonous work week all the way to the weekend. DeFortes members range from freshmen to seniors and began their 2022-2023 season in August with a two-week vocal and choreography camp while starting their first annual Summer Show Choir Mini Camp this past summer.

DeFortes members opened for the UW-Madison Wisconsin Singers in November at the Wisconsin Union Theater. They performed throughout the state at Milton, Fort Atkinson, Monona Grove, and Holmen along with performing their final home showcase back in DeForest which takes place on Monday, March 20. The group is under the direction of Lyrica Daentl, band direction by Matthew Cornale, and choreography by Ben Schrank.
