Today, Representative Lisa Subeck from Madison introduced new legislation titled "Buy Wisconsin" aimed at boosting local procurement by state and local governments. The proposed bill mandates that the Wisconsin Department of Administration ensures at least 20% of all purchases by state agencies are sourced from companies based in Wisconsin.

The legislation also encourages local government entities to aim for a similar goal, with an optional target that 20% of their purchases come from Wisconsin-based companies. Additionally, it requires these entities to provide publicly available data on their progress towards this objective.

“‘Buy Wisconsin’ is an ambitious and achievable step forward in supporting working Wisconsinites and our local small businesses,” said Rep. Subeck. “When our government buys local, we can keep our tax dollars right here in Wisconsin while ensuring we get the highest quality services available.”

Representative Subeck has been serving the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and currently holds the position of Chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
