There will be no trash and recycling collections by the Streets Division on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025. This pause in service is due to the observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Additionally, drop-off sites will not be open on these days.

Residents with Monday or Tuesday collection schedules should place their carts at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024. It is important to check your collection schedule calendar to see if your recycling cart needs to be placed alongside your trash cart. Late set-outs may result in missed collections.

For those whose collections are normally scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday, carts should be placed at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Again, residents should verify whether both trash and recycling carts need to be out based on their collection schedule calendar.

The Streets Division's drop-off sites at Sycamore and South Point will resume normal winter hours on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Residents are encouraged to visit www.cityofmadison.com/DropOffSites for specific site hours and locations before visiting.

Collections scheduled for Friday, January 3, 2025, will proceed as usual unless severe weather causes delays or cancellations.

To stay informed about any changes in the collection schedule due to holidays or extreme weather conditions, residents can sign up for email alerts through the Trash and Recycling Schedule Updates list available on the Streets Division’s website or the City of Madison email list page.

Collection calendars can be accessed online at www.cityofmadison.com/Streets by entering an address into the “Look up Your Collection Schedule” box. This tool provides upcoming collection dates and links to download full-year calendars in PDF format.

Further information about services provided by the Streets Division can be found at www.cityofmadison.com/streets.
