Madison College has announced a new agreement with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to support students aiming for careers in fitness, recreation, and wellness. The partnership guarantees admission for Madison College students in the Associate of Applied Science in Fitness, Recreation & Wellness Management program to UW-Whitewater's Human Performance major. Students will also have access to minors such as Recreation and Leisure Studies, Strength and Conditioning, Sport Management, and Health Promotion.
Upon successful admission, students will receive at least 57 credits toward their degree. Beth Giles, Provost at Madison College, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: "This partnership is a testament to the dedication of both institutions to provide effective and efficient educational pathways in this very important career field," she said. "As we navigate the changing landscape of education, it is essential that we support students who aspire to impact the health and wellness sector positively."
To qualify, students must apply to UW-Whitewater, submit necessary documents, and complete an applied associate degree from Madison College with a GPA of 2.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must declare their major or minor during admission or transfer.
The agreement simplifies the transfer process between Madison College and UW-Whitewater while enhancing opportunities for future educators and professionals in various fields including early childhood education, human services, IT, paralegal studies, and liberal arts.
