The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists has awarded Tina DeGroot, PhD, APRN, the Preceptor of the Year Award. This accolade honors a member who has shown exceptional dedication as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) preceptor. The award highlights a preceptor's commitment to teaching and mentoring CNS students and newcomers to the role, helping them achieve competencies in various nursing spheres.

"Tina’s clinical excellence, mentorship, and advocacy are exemplary, and we are so pleased to have her recognized with the prestigious award," said Chris Brabant, President/CEO of Stoughton Health.

DeGroot has been active as a preceptor for over 30 years. Her experience spans registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, and medical students across different settings including acute care and outpatient clinics. Her work also extends to free and charitable clinics in rural areas.

Jonathan Milton, MSN, APNP from Stoughton Health’s Cardiology Clinic nominated DeGroot for this recognition. "Tina fosters a positive learning environment where CNS students and new graduates feel comfortable expressing their ideas and questions," he noted.

The award will be presented at the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists 2025 Annual Conference in March.
