Madison College's Fort Atkinson campus will host the annual Metal Mania event on October 9. The event, originally scheduled for May 9, was moved to allow greater participation from students and businesses and to take advantage of Wisconsin's fall weather for outdoor displays.
Metal Mania highlights the Fort Atkinson Metal Fabrication with Welding Bolt-On program, where students can earn two degrees in one year. The event includes a competition featuring teams made up of high school students, Madison College students, and community members from Jefferson County.
The event is held in collaboration with workforce development to introduce attendees to metal fabrication and welding careers while providing networking opportunities with potential employers. Visitors can enjoy live demonstrations of laser cutting, welding, and blacksmithing throughout the day. There are activities for all ages, including meeting Madison College mascot Wolfie, engaging in games, and enjoying food. Last year's event attracted over 300 attendees.
Organizers expect the 2025 Metal Mania to be larger than previous years. They look forward to working with community partners and will share more details about the event and registration in early fall.
