On April 9, 2025, Pocan criticized a decision by the House Republicans, stating, "Nearly every House Republican just voted to make Americans pay higher overdraft fees." The statement likely references a specific legislative action regarding banking regulations.

The following day, he expressed concern regarding the budget vote by Republican members, saying, "Any Republican who says the vote they just took on the budget won't cut Medicaid to pay for a $7 trillion tax cut for billionaires like Elon Musk is lying to their constituents." This statement highlights Pocan's apprehension that the fiscal choices might prioritize wealthy individuals at the expense of healthcare funding.

Several hours later, on April 10, he suggested a need for prioritizing essential transportation issues by stating, "Imagine if the Secretary of Transportation of the United States didn’t have to defend his boss’ crazy ideas about water pressure and dishwashers, and instead could address plane safety at National Airport. Just saying." This tweet implies criticism of current administrative priorities, pointing towards aviation safety as a significant concern.

Mark Pocan has been a U.S. Congressman since 2013, following Tammy Baldwin. His educational background includes a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Pocan was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and now resides in Vermont.
