Vice Provost for Enrollment Management Derek Kindle will leave his position at UW–Madison in June to assume the role of vice president of enrollment management at the University of Oregon. Kindle has been part of the university since 2016, initially serving as the director of the Office of Student Financial Aid before becoming the vice provost in 2020.

“We have seen a transformed division, expanded access to the university and consistently talented students choosing to come to Madison,” said Provost Charles Isbell. “We wish him success in his new role.”

During his tenure, UW–Madison saw a record number of applications, successful incoming student classes, and the creation of programs aimed at enhancing higher education access for Wisconsin residents. These initiatives include Bucky’s Tuition Promise, Bucky’s Pell Pathway, the Wisconsin Tribal Educational Promise, and the SSTAR Lab, a research-practice partnership to expand college access and student success.

Kindle is known at the national level as an expert in higher education, holding roles in organizations such as a trustee of the College Board, chair-elect of the Higher Education Loan Coalition (HELC), and as a former board member of the National Association for Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).

A search for Kindle's successor is set to begin later this spring.
