Student Jose Villarreal has been named the 2025 Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) Ambassador from Madison College. Villarreal is currently pursuing an associate of arts/science degree in the university transfer program, with plans to transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a bachelor's degree in biology.

WTCS selects one student from each technical college in Wisconsin to participate in its leadership and recognition program. Villarreal aims to motivate others to consider a technical college education. After high school, he worked full-time because he believed he could not afford college, but now he hopes to inspire others with his educational journey.

"Now that I have spent time in the workforce, I know the impact of not having a college education," Villarreal says. "To provide a better life for my family, I enrolled in Madison College. It's important to me to lead by example and attend college to show my daughter that education is achievable. I want her to know that a well-rounded education will benefit not only her but our community as a whole."

He is currently employed at Exact Sciences Corp. in Madison, focusing on developing early cancer diagnostics. Villarreal acknowledges Madison College's role in helping him reach his goals, stating, "Madison College helps me attain my goals because it's affordable, flexible, and welcoming to people of all backgrounds. I have all the resources that I need to attend school here."

Readers can find more about Villarreal on the Wisconsin Technical College Systems 2025 Ambassador web page.
