The City of Madison Equal Opportunities Commission has announced a series of public listening sessions aimed at addressing workplace discrimination. These sessions are designed to empower individuals with the tools needed to report such issues.

The inaugural session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11, at 6 PM at the Central Library located at 201 W. Mifflin Street, Madison, WI. Attendees will benefit from free off-street parking after 6 PM and refreshments will be available. The sessions are open to everyone, and attendees requiring language interpreters are encouraged to notify the organizers in advance.

These listening sessions form part of a larger initiative by the city to foster open dialogue among community members and highlight diverse experiences. The Commission's goal is to promote more equitable and inclusive professional environments throughout Madison.

“This is more than a conversation; it’s a step toward action,” said Deana Wright, a member of the organizing subcommittee. “We want to create a safe space where people can share their stories, learn about their rights, and how to use the reporting resources.”

A diverse subcommittee comprising city leaders, advocates, and professionals has organized this series with a commitment to tackling the root causes of workplace inequities. Feedback from these sessions will contribute to shaping future strategies and resources for both employees and employers across the city.
