Madison Water Utility has released its Annual Drinking Water Quality Report for the year 2024. The report outlines the results of numerous drinking water quality tests conducted throughout the year. According to the utility, Madison's drinking water meets or exceeds all federal and state health and safety standards.

Customers within the utility's service area have been informed of the report's release through mailed postcards. These postcards direct recipients to view the report online at MadisonWater.org/QualityReport. For those who prefer a physical copy, it can be requested by calling (608) 261-9299. Additionally, copies are available at all branches of the Madison Public Library and most community or neighborhood centers. Both electronic and printed versions are offered in English and Spanish.

The utility emphasizes its commitment to maintaining high-quality drinking water by conducting more tests than required by both the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Madison's water system includes over 900 miles of water main and 20 active wells that draw from a deep sandstone aquifer beneath the city. All facilities under Madison Water Utility are monitored continuously, with regular safety tests conducted at each operational well.
