The Wisconsin film industry may soon see a boost as a bill authored by Senator Julian Bradley gains momentum. The proposed legislation aims to attract investments, jobs, and tourism dollars to the state through targeted tax credits for film and television production.

Senator Bradley emphasized the success of similar initiatives in other states. "We’re already seeing states like Georgia and Illinois use targeted tax credits to attract film and television production to their states – along with significant economic activity," he stated. "I want to see those dollars come to Wisconsin too."

The bill outlines that tax credits will only be granted once minimum spending requirements are met and expenditures are documented. This measure is intended to ensure that the incentives have the desired economic impact. Currently, Wisconsin is one of only four states without a film office or commission, making this bill an effort to close a competitive gap.

A committee vote in the Senate on this bill is anticipated soon.
