Residents and visitors of Madison and Dane County will have the opportunity to enjoy local parks without the usual permit requirements on June 7 and 8, 2025. This initiative allows people to explore disc golf courses, bring their dogs to parks, or access lakes freely during this weekend.

Typically, a permit is necessary for playing at City of Madison disc golf courses. However, no permits will be required at Elver Park located at 1250 McKenna Blvd., and Hiestand at 4302 Milwaukee St. during these dates.

Dog owners usually need a Dog Permit for visiting general parks with their pets or using fenced off-leash dog areas. On June 7 and 8, permits are waived for several off-leash dog parks including Demetral (2297 Commercial Ave.), North Star (439 Milky Way), McCormick (702 N. McCormick Ave.), Odana School (678 S. Segoe Rd.), Quann (1802 Quann-Olin Pkwy.), Sycamore (4517 Sycamore Ave.), Walnut Grove (202 N. Westfield Rd.), and Warner (2301 Sheridan Dr.).

Lake Access Permits are generally required for designated boat launches but will not be needed on these two days at Law (410 S. Blair St.), Olbrich (3401 Atwood Ave.), Olin (1156 Olin-Turville Ct.), Marshall (2101 Allen Blvd.), Spring Harbor (5218 Lake Mendota Dr.), Tenney (1601 Sherman Ave.), and Warner (1201 Woodward Dr.).

Madison Parks encourages everyone to take advantage of this weekend by exploring the many recreational opportunities available in its more than 290 parks covering nearly 6,000 acres.
