Madison College, in collaboration with community organizations, will hold a parade on Saturday, June 21 to commemorate Juneteenth Day. This annual event celebrates the legacy of Juneteenth through community engagement, cultural expressions, and reflection.

The parade serves as a tribute to the history and resilience of Black communities while marking freedom, progress, and unity. It offers an opportunity for individuals to come together in a display of culture, pride, and hope.

“By participating, you help bring history to life and show that the fight for justice and equity is still alive and strong,” stated Madison College Community Impact Manager Dr. Jimmy Cheffen. “Whether you're part of an organization, a family, or showing up as yourself, your presence sends a message: we remember, we celebrate, and we keep moving forward.”

The parade will begin at 10:45 a.m., with staging starting at 10 a.m. Participants will gather at Madison Labor Temple Parking Lot located at 1602 S. Park Street in Madison. The route includes Park Street leading to Beld Street then Bram Street before concluding on Fisher Street. The event will end at Penn Park situated at 2101 Fisher St., Madison.
