Beginning on Monday, June 30, at 5:00 am, the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) will initiate Stage 2 of the Highland Avenue project. As part of this phase, southbound Highland Avenue will close at the VA Hospital driveway, and the westbound on-ramp from Highland Avenue to Campus Drive will also be closed.

During Stage 2, southbound traffic on Highland Avenue must make a U-turn at the VA Hospital driveway intersection to proceed northbound. The current closure of the westbound off-ramp will remain unchanged.

These closures are expected to last approximately four weeks, until around Monday, July 28. At that point, the project will transition to Stage 3. In this stage, southbound Highland Avenue and the westbound off-ramp will reopen; however, the westbound on-ramp will remain closed. Stage 3 is projected to continue until late August or early September.

Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and adhere to posted detour signage. The City of Madison Traffic Engineering will monitor and adjust traffic signal timing for rerouted traffic.

For more details and updates on this project, visit the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District project webpage.
