The City of Madison Parks Division is set to present the draft 2025-2030 Park & Open Space Plan at an open house event. This gathering will take place on Thursday, June 26, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Parks Lakeside Offices located at 330 E. Lakeside St.
The Park and Open Space Plan (POSP) plays a crucial role in guiding policies, planning, and resource allocation for parks and open spaces within the community. These areas are vital for promoting health, wellness, and vitality among residents. The POSP helps decision-makers by providing strategies for park development and management based on public input, data analysis, and GIS studies. It undergoes regular updates every five years to address evolving community needs and assists in securing federal and state grants necessary for its implementation.
In developing the draft plan for 2025-2030, a comprehensive public input process was undertaken throughout 2024 with the assistance of MSA Professional Services as the consulting planning team. This process involved several open houses, targeted outreach efforts, focus groups, a survey conducted by UW Survey Center, as well as extensive committee work.
For those interested in more details about the POSP project or wishing to review the draft plan ahead of time can visit the POSP project page online.
