The City of Madison Arts Commission has announced an upcoming event for the unveiling of a new sculpture titled "Mother and Child." Created by Detroit-based artist Austen Brantley, this figurative bronze piece focuses on the bond between mother and child. The unveiling is scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.

The sculpture will be located at the end of a sidewalk segment in the public right-of-way adjacent to 3002 Darbo Drive, near the base of the Starkweather Creek Pedestrian/Bike Path bridge.

Post-unveiling activities will take place at Parks Alive at Worthington Park. The community is invited to participate in additional arts programming and enjoy music performed by Madison funk band Rare Element.
