There were 2,735 students enrolled in Stoughton Area School District in the 2024-25 school year, 1.2% less than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 79.6% of the Stoughton Area School District total enrollment.

Stoughton Area School District covers six schools within Dane County, with its main office in Stoughton.

Among the six schools in the district, Stoughton High School recorded the highest enrollment of 834 students in the 2024-25 school year.

Wisconsin had a student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1 in 2025, lower than the national average of 16-to-1, according to Public School Review.
