Superintendent Dr. Monogue congratulated Middleton High School students involved in the Future Business Leaders of America program. "39 students recently traveled to California to represent Middleton High School at the National Leadership Conference," she stated. The students secured championships in Digital Animation and Parliamentary Procedure and placed in the top ten in three other events. Dr. Monogue also thanked staff working in summer school programs.
The Board approved a donation of $67,491.50 from Sunset Ridge Elementary School PTA for the school's upper playground, as all donations over $10,000 require approval.
Dr. Barb Buffington and Sherry Smith reported on general leave requests, attendance data, and substitute fill rates. MCPASD partnered with EDUStaff on July 1, 2024, resulting in an increase in substitutes and fill rates for the 2024-25 school year compared to 2023-24. General leave requests decreased significantly between these years.
Dr. Monogue reviewed enrollment numbers for the upcoming school year as of July 7, 2025, noting increases and decreases across grade levels.
The Policy Committee is not recommending changes to the Board Committee structure or policy language at this time.
Representatives from McKinstry and Director Erin Wheeler updated on Sustainability Phase 1 projects, discussing budget updates and funding impacts. The Board approved using $3 million from the operating budget for these projects and will borrow up to $7,285,000.
A resolution was discussed regarding borrowing funds toward sustainability projects. "Leaders are recommending approval of this Resolution," allowing flexibility based on project costs.
The Board approved academic standards for the next school year covering various content areas including English Language Arts and Mathematics.
An agreement with an Independent Hearing Officer was approved for expulsion hearings during the 2025-26 school year at a rate of $1,400 per hearing.
