Tonight, the Madison Common Council gave unanimous approval to three proposals aimed at facilitating the construction of various types of homes. These measures also aim to enhance homeownership flexibility and simplify permitting for small and mid-sized buildings in the downtown area.

Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway expressed gratitude towards her colleagues on the Common Council for their collaboration on these initiatives. "I want to thank my colleagues on the Common Council for collaborating on these sensible efforts to provide more housing options for Madison residents and for the community support for these proposals," she said. She emphasized that by streamlining processes and implementing forward-thinking policies, everyone in Madison can live in their preferred neighborhoods.

The mayor highlighted that while these are significant steps, further progress is needed to expand housing choices in Madison. She mentioned plans to introduce additional pro-housing policies this fall in collaboration with the Council.
