Shakespeare and modern jazz have taken center stage at the University of Wisconsin–Madison's Allen Centennial Garden this summer. Alongside the blooming lilies, asters, and hydrangeas, UW students under the direction of Bex Schmitt have performed scenes from various Shakespeare plays in different parts of the garden.

In addition to these theatrical performances, the Summer Concerts in the Garden series has featured a variety of musical groups. Among them was the Gerri DiMaggio Project, which combines Brazilian melodies with jazz standards.

The events drew audiences who enjoyed both theatrical and musical performances in a unique outdoor setting. Performers included Syd Curran and Giovanna Iosso acting out scenes inspired by Shakespeare's "As You Like It," while Chloe Madison portrayed Puck from "A Midsummer Night’s Dream."

These cultural events have transformed Allen Centennial Garden into a vibrant venue for art and music this season.
