The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be participating in Farm Technology Days, scheduled for August 5-7, 2025, in Waupaca County. The event provides an opportunity for attendees to learn about the DNR's ongoing initiatives and engage with staff on topics related to natural resources and conservation.
Visitors can find the DNR tent at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and 6th Street. Staff from various programs including Watershed Management, Water Resources, Forestry, Law Enforcement, Waste Management, Drinking Water and Groundwater, and Wildlife Management will be present to share insights into their work.
Interactive exhibits will feature animal furs and skulls as well as equipment used for wildland fire control and recreational patrol vehicles. Experts from the DNR will discuss key initiatives such as protecting lakes and rivers in Wisconsin, responsible waste management practices, sustainable forestry methods, enhancing water quality, and addressing pollution issues.
A notable offering from the Drinking Water and Groundwater program is free on-site nitrate screenings for private well owners. Attendees are encouraged to bring a clean container with a cup of well water for testing. Results will be provided within minutes. While take-home kits won't be available, staff will offer guidance on further testing if high nitrate levels are found.
Farm Technology Days is described as an outdoor event that showcases advancements in production agriculture through practical applications, recent research findings, and technological innovations. Originally held in Waupaca County, this year's event marks its return to this location.
