Rep. Bob Donovan, a Republican representing Wisconsin's 61st House district, used his social media platform in mid-August 2025 to address recent flooding and ongoing challenges in police recruitment.

On August 11, Donovan acknowledged the impact of severe weather events in the region. He wrote, "The weekend flooding affected thousands. I appreciate the Governor's office updates on state involvement and am ready to help in any way.

Given the severe damage, I hope Rep. Steil's call for FEMA assistance is approved. Praying for those having to recover from this disaster."

Continuing his focus on public safety, Donovan highlighted declining interest in law enforcement careers the following day. On August 12, he posted, '"The department has not received more than 1,000 applicants for officer positions in a single year since 2013, when 1,018 applied. In 2023, just 227 applications were submitted."

The culture around policing has been decimated. We must be creative moving forward to recruit and'

On August 13, Donovan returned to the topic of flood recovery efforts with information for Milwaukee County residents affected by the disaster: "FEMA must recognize the severe flooding in SEWI. Milwaukee County residents, report damage by calling 211 to activate FEMA assistance.
