A recent report from the Wisconsin Idea Database indicates that the University of Wisconsin–Madison continues to play a substantial role in supporting communities, education, health care, and workforce development across all 72 counties in the state. The database is designed to highlight how UW–Madison's activities reach beyond campus and contribute statewide.
The university has also made advancements in medical research. A clinical trial at UW–Madison has enabled transplant patients to live without daily anti-rejection medications. Additionally, the accelerated program at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health recently celebrated its first graduate. This program aims to address physician shortages in rural areas by reducing training time for doctors who intend to work in those communities.
Students are choosing UW–Madison over other top-tier colleges due to its reputation, welcoming environment, and financial aid packages.
"According to the latest data from the Wisconsin Idea Database, a project that highlights the many connections between UW–Madison and the state of Wisconsin, UW–Madison makes a significant impact on Wisconsin's students, communities, health care and workforce."
