Curbside brush collection in Verona is scheduled to take place on September 8. Residents are required to place brush behind the curb, rather than in the street, and ensure it is ready for pickup by 7 a.m. on Monday. To maintain safety for both traffic and pedestrians, city officials ask that brush not be set out before the Friday preceding the start of collection.
The service is limited to tree trimmings, shrubs, and other woody plant materials. Other types of yard waste will not be collected during this round. The city has provided an alternative drop-off location at 2159 Range Trail for those with additional yard waste.
According to guidelines, brush that has been cut or trimmed by hired persons or companies will neither be collected at the curb nor accepted at the drop-off site; those parties are responsible for their own disposal. There are also restrictions on size: brush must have a maximum diameter of eight inches and a maximum length of twelve feet.
Small sticks and twigs should be placed in containers such as boxes or buckets before being left at the curb. All brush must be stacked neatly and parallel to the street, with cut ends facing right as residents look toward the road.
City officials advise residents to avoid placing piles near trees, poles, hydrants, mailboxes, parked cars, or other obstructions to facilitate easy collection. Metal objects, roots, and dirt should be removed from all material set out for pickup. Brush must also remain separate from leaves, non-woody garden waste, and garbage; mixed piles will not be collected.
In addition to curbside pickup services, Verona offers a drop-off site at 2159 Range Trail open daily from dawn until dusk exclusively for residential use. Material from businesses or contractors is not accepted at this facility.
