The Meadowridge Library in Madison will host a series of events from September 26 to October 17, marking the 100th anniversary of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby. The book, first published on April 10, 1925, is considered a significant work in American literature and has influenced various forms of media and writers globally.
The library’s celebration aims to engage both young readers and longtime fans of the novel. “There have been events celebrating The Great Gatsby throughout the year at various literary establishments across the country. Hosting a local event seems like a great opportunity to connect with youth who may be reading the book for school, as well as generations of people who have read and loved it before,” said Meadowridge Library Supervisor Yesianne Ramirez. “It also gives us a chance to reinforce our ongoing literacy efforts with library visitors in a fun and accessible way.”
Attendees at Meadowridge Library can expect activities that explore the culture of the Jazz Age, provide historical context about the 1920s, and examine themes from The Great Gatsby.
