The Sun Prairie Police Department announced on March 23 that it is investigating an overnight shooting incident that occurred in the area of Hart Road.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 4:00 a.m. after receiving multiple calls reporting gunfire. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and found several rifle shell casings. Authorities said there have been no reports of injuries or property damage linked to the incident so far.

Police are asking residents in the Hart Road area to check any available surveillance footage for suspicious activity or vehicles leaving around the time of the reported gunfire and to contact law enforcement with any information.

Chief Kevin Warych addressed community concerns by saying, “Incidents like this are concerning, but our community should know we are fully engaged and committed to their safety.” Warych added, “We will be relentless in our efforts to identify and hold those responsible accountable. Gun violence has no place in our city, and these cases are not closed until that accountability is achieved.”

The department stated there is no known ongoing threat related to this incident but confirmed that officers and investigators continue to pursue all leads. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Sun Prairie Police Department at (608) 837-7336 or Madison Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 266-6014. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
