The Sun Prairie Area School District has appointed Isaac Sung, Ph.D., as the newest member of its Board of Education. Dr. Sung will serve in this role until the spring 2026 election, filling the seat vacated by Dr. Steve Urso, who resigned for health reasons.

Dr. Sung holds a doctoral degree in Computer Sciences and Education from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and has experience in both software engineering and education.

In a statement, the Sun Prairie School Board said, “The Sun Prairie School Board is steadfast in its mission to support the success of every child, every day. It is confident that Dr. Sung shares in this unwavering commitment.” The Board also thanked the seven other candidates who applied and interviewed for the position: Anupama Bhalla, Ben Jones, Ann Marie Lauritzen, Nitin Kadam, Danny Miller, Josh Thorstad, and Tom Vergeront.

“The Board is excited to welcome Dr. Sung’s perspective and is thankful for the strong partnership of staff, families, and our community as we work together to help our students thrive,” according to the announcement.

Information about all candidates and details from the public meeting are available on Diligent Community. A recording of the meeting will be posted on the Sun Prairie Media Center website.
