The Sun Prairie Area School District has officially become an Instagram School Partner after participating in the social media platform’s pilot program aimed at enhancing student safety online. The program seeks to address and reduce online safety issues and bullying among middle and high school students.

In February, district staff took part in a focus group as part of the pilot, providing feedback on the partnership initiative. This discussion centered around potential improvements to help schools nationwide ensure the safety and well-being of students using social media platforms.

To join Instagram’s School Partnership Program, districts must apply via a waitlist. Once accepted, they register to become official partners. Benefits for partner schools include priority reporting tools, digital safety information for students and families, and a special banner on their Instagram profile indicating their partnership status. This banner directs users to further details about the program when selected.

Following feedback from Sun Prairie Area School District in February, Instagram launched the program nationwide in March.

“We see, love, and support all of our students and are excited to partner with Instagram to carry out this mission.”

Additional information about the pilot program is available for those interested in learning more about its supporting data. Resources are also provided for families, teachers, and staff involved.
