Students from Sun Prairie West participated in the Wisconsin Mini Business World program, gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship and business development, according to an April 19 announcement.
The program aims to help students understand how businesses contribute to communities by creating jobs, supporting local economies, and giving back through philanthropy. It provides opportunities for students to apply classroom learning in real-world situations.
During the event, Sun Prairie West students took part in activities that required them to develop innovative products, build business plans, and make decisions similar to those faced by real businesses. They worked together on problem-solving tasks designed to simulate what it takes to manage a profitable company.
Kevin Wagner, an educator at Sun Prairie West, said: “Opportunities like Mini Business World allow our students to connect classroom learning to real-world application. They leave with a deeper understanding of how business drives opportunity and not just for individuals, but for entire communities.”
The one-day immersive program is part of the WMC Foundation and encourages students from across Wisconsin to discover economic opportunities while learning about the importance of businesses and manufacturers in sustaining a strong economy. Participants were tasked with creating new products, building prototypes, developing marketing plans, and forming budgets as part of their business plans.
Ishaan Shukla served as CEO of the team that was selected for first place by the judges. The school says it remains committed to offering career exploration experiences that prepare students for future success.
